Statik Jones

When I was asked to review the Fort Worth, TX based ‘rock cover band’ Statik Jones, my initial thought was
“why a cover band, when so much incredible ‘unknown’ original musical talent exists in the DFW Metroplex?”
A quick listen of the band’s original songs on reverbnation.com (specifically, the psychedelic-flavored
Severed Dreams) convinced me to check them out during their recent Liquid Lounge gig in Deep Ellum.
Prior to taking the stage, the band generously stepped outside and allowed me to grab a couple of candid
shots while they shared their history, creative process and future plans. I must say that the vast majority of
musicians could take a cue from the lack of arrogance these guys project. Each band member was a perfect
gentleman and humbly grateful for the attention. They also enjoy working together, which was evident as I
observed their interactions with one another. If any negative personal issues exist, these guys certainly hide it
well (as it should be).
Statik Jones formed on October 9, 2010, though each claims to be a seasoned performer in his own right
(Ness Gamez, Will Brooks, Ivey Gilliland II & Rick Kazyaka). When asked about their original songwriting
